$1.00 for Kids
We are campaigning to get every household in Fannin, Union, Gilmer, and Towns County to contribute $1.00 to Open Arms of Blue Ridge. These $1.00 donations will help to offset operating expenses at the Open Arms Child Advocacy Center. We know that times are tough for all of us these days, so we felt a $1.00 contribution would be affordable for most residents and would allow a majority of our community to contribute to this VERY LOCAL cause.
With the help of our residents, we will generate the necessary funds to manage and operate our Residential Child Care Home (already built and furnished), filling a critical need for local children who otherwise would be transported 50+ miles away to foster care homes. In the event of a significant crisis, these children will have significant issues to deal with and an assessment has been made, and endorsed by local authorities, that these children would be better off if they were not relocated far outside of our county. Relocation means they are no longer enrolled in their own school, they can no longer attend their church, they are far away from loving and caring relatives and support groups; all of which contribute significantly to their healing process.
